What retain.solutions is

retain.solutions is an early-stage feasibility and comparison tool for architects and building designers. It's designed to support early conversations with clients about whether to retain, retrofit, extend or replace an existing building. All information it provides is general in nature.

How the estimates are made

Estimates are drawn from published industry cost guides, research studies and government data, applied to typical Australian building types and eras. They are not based on an inspection, measurement or survey of any specific building, and real projects can differ significantly.

What it is not

The estimates and scores are indicative and order-of-magnitude only. They are not a quote, cost plan or quantity surveyor's estimate. They are not structural, engineering, building surveying, heritage, planning, legal, financial or medical advice, and they are not an energy rating or a compliance assessment under the National Construction Code or any other regulation.

Get professional advice before acting

Before making decisions, entering contracts or advising a client to proceed, verify the information with appropriately qualified, independent professionals. Depending on the project, that may include a quantity surveyor, structural engineer, building surveyor or certifier, town planner, heritage adviser and energy assessor.

Comfort and health scores

Comfort and health scores describe the typical reduction in known risk factors such as draughts, damp and poor insulation. They do not predict health outcomes for any person.

Your professional judgement

retain.solutions supports professional judgement but doesn't replace it. Architects and building designers remain responsible for the advice they give their clients.

Accuracy and changes

Costs, carbon data and regulations change over time. While we aim to keep everything accurate and current, we can't guarantee that all information is complete, correct or up to date. retain.solutions is in development, and its methods and figures will change.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, retain.solutions is not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on the information it provides. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes, restricts or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
